چکیده

A qualification strategy for advanced embedded non-volatile memory technology has been revealed. This strategy consists of: thorough understanding of the requirements, extensive use and frequent update of the FMEA (failure mode effect analysis), a qualification plan with excellent coverage of all the iisk areas, implementing effective in-line and off-line measures and control, and check-off of all the tests with goad results. With such a strategy in place, the Philips’ 0.18ym embedded flash technology has been successfully qualified for volume production.

Numerical Simulation of Embedded Non-volatile Memory

Non volatile memories have in recent years become an established component of all electronic systems, especially portable systems. The general trend towards a higher level of integration and speed are pushing towards their integration with complex logic – embedded nonvolatile memory. Non Volatile memory research in the NMRC, which was stimulated by a Marie Curie Fellowship, has focused on the m...

Using Hot Carrier Injection for Embedded Non-volatile Memory

Since the invention of NAND Flash memory in the 1980’s, non-volatile memory (NVM) has touched all aspects of our daily life. Applications for NVM is growing everyday from handy data storage devices like a USB Flash Drive to High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and its high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) encryption algorithms to firmware storage in a variety of digital device...

Novel Slope Detection Technique for Robust STRAM Sensing

Spin Torque Transfer Random Access Memory (STRAM) is a promising memory technology for embedded cache due to its highdensity, low standby power, and high speed. STTRAM provides high density due to the 1T– 1R structure and eliminates bit-cell leakage due to the non-volatile nature of the storage element (MTJ). The process variation of MTJ and access transistor possess challenges to sensing. Vari...

Attack resilient architecture to replace embedded Flash with STTRAM in homogeneous IoTs

Spin-Transfer Torque RAM (STTRAM) is an emerging Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) technology that provides better endurance, write energy and performance than traditional NVM technologies such as Flash. In embedded application such as microcontroller SoC of Internet of Things (IoT), embedded Flash (eFlash) is widely employed. However, eFlash is also associated with cost. Therefore, replacing eFlash wi...
